Fact- Diamond Bar has up to 6,000 kids involved in youth sports organizations.
Fact- Diamond Bar has too few sports fields to meet the needs of our kids.
Fact- This problem is decades old.
Will you consider making a small donation to keep the program alive in Diamond Bar?
For decades the City of Diamond Bar has had a shortage of sports fields. Every year the City of Diamond Bar hosts two Field Allocation meetings to parcel out the limited fields to the various youth sports organizations like Pop Warner Football, American Youth Soccer League, Pony Baseball, Diamond Bar Soccer League, City Leagues and many other organizations.
This means that the coaches and players have limited access to the available fields for their practices and games. This also means that kids are getting less exercise then they would if we had more fields.
Only 1 in 3 students this last year recorded a passing grade in the State physical fitness test per a recent article in the Daily Bulletin. Said another way, Two out of three students cannot meet the basic physical fitness requirements as defined by the State of California. This is a tragedy!
Please help us solve this problem. Through its Fields for Kids Project the DBCF is raising funds to provide more of the needed fields. Your tax deductible donation will help us meet this need. We also can accept cars, boats, stocks, bonds, precious metals and art or anything of value.
Please contact Lew Herndon at 909 437-6366 to arrange for this type of gift.
The Fields For Kids program raffled off two vehicles, a Prius and Scion, at the 2013 Annual DBCF Holiday Gala. Congratulations to Bruno Sandoval of Whittier as the new owner of the Prius and Honorio Ceja as the new owner of the Scion.
